Hand's Fireball

The fireball the Hand throws, in your hand. Throw it at a player: it hunts them down, and the only way out is to hit it back.

Two players facing each other on flat ground, the Hand's Fireball flying between them with its flame trail

Get one

Buy it in /shop, in Special items, for 30 ★. Each fireball is one throw.

Throw it

  1. Hold it and look at a player, up to 48 blocks away.
  2. Right click. The fireball flies off after them and they're told it's coming.

Looking at nobody, nothing happens and you keep your fireball.

One fireball per pair. While yours is in play you can't throw another, and a player who already has one on them can't be aimed at, so nobody gets buried under ten of them at once.

What it does

It…What that means
Hunts one playerIt turns after its target wherever they run. Now and then it plays: a swerve, a corkscrew or a zigzag, but never when it's close: however fast it goes, it comes straight in.
Changes its mindEvery so often it drops its target and goes after another player nearby, at random. You get the same warning when it picks you.
Bounces off wallsIt never breaks a block. It bounces off like a ball and keeps coming. Hiding in a box won't save you: right next to its target it goes through the wall.
Can't be destroyedArrows, explosions and swords go straight through it.
Goes off on its targetIt explodes on them: it hurts, it never digs. The longer the rally, the bigger the blast.
Plays musicA music disc rides it, softly, so you hear it coming.
Burns outAfter a minute without anyone hitting it, or when its target is far away.
One at a timeWhile a fireball is in play, nobody it involves can throw another one or be hunted by a second.

Hit it back

When it comes for you, face it and swing (left click) just before it reaches you. No need to aim right at it: it has to be in front of you and close. The faster it flies, the further out you can already meet it.

  • It flies off where you look. Look at a player and it goes after them.
  • Looking at nobody, it goes back to whoever sent it, or else to the nearest player.
  • Every hit makes it faster (quickly at first, then a little more each time) and its blast bigger. The rally ends when someone misses, and the one who misses takes all of it.
  • Only the player it's chasing can hit it back.
attention

A long rally makes a huge blast: after a hundred hits or so it can take out everyone standing near the one who misses. Keep your distance from a duel.

Alone? Hit it anyway: it swings round and comes back for you. Good practice.

The Hand throws them too

The fireballs the Hand throws at the gouffre are the same ball, and the Hand plays back. Hit one back without looking at another player and it flies to the Hand: it reaches out, open palm, and slaps it straight back at you, faster. The Hand never misses: the rally ends when you do, and by then the blast has grown with every hit.
